New campus will serve creative students in the local area
Responsive Education Solutions (ResponsiveEd), Texas’ largest public charter school holder, announced the opening of the new Media Arts Academy. The school officially opened on Tuesday, Jan. 18.
The new high school is designed with a state-of-the-art media facility created for 21st century students wishing to pursue careers in graphic design, video production and sound design. The school’s learning system, blending rigorous research with authentic independent learning experience, is the first of its kind for creative students who wish to develop their learning skills and impact their world through the creation and development of media art.
“The Media Arts Academy is an opportunity for our most creative students to be directly involved with quality media production and design a significant portion of each school day. The school has been created to allow students to use technology to drive the learning process,” said Dr. Alan Wimberley, chief systems officer for ResponsiveEd and director of the new academy.
The Media Arts Academy is located at 1301 Waters Ridge Dr. on the second floor of the ResponsiveEd headquarters. The school will serve 75 students this semester with plans for growth next year.
The Media Arts Academy, presented by iSchool High, is accredited by the Texas Education Agency and the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools.
